Jordan and Ben’s Della Terra Mountain Chateau wedding was a little bit like life should be. It rained a little, the sun shone a little, we cried a little, we laughed a lot, then at the end we were all happy just to be at the party. Check out their video preview for a taste, then scroll down and read more about their day!
Jordan’s dress was the stuff of fairytales and the floral motif flowing down the train made it the perfect choice for fall. And you don’t have to take my word for it after all. Just look at that flower girl’s face. WOAH.
Della Terra’s staff is the absolute pinnacle of customer service so of course they always have umbrellas handy for the typical fall rain. Those umbrellas also happen to make for some really wonderful photo ops.
And while we always prepare for rainy afternoons with umbrellas, the more important tool is a positive outlook. Whatever you do, don’t let a little rain dampen your joy. This is your one and only wedding day after all! Be like Jordan – smile at the rain!
And don’t be afraid to venture out in a drizzle, because it often stops and gives us light like this. Professional Princess lighting, coming right up. So so stunning, Jordan!
Umbrellas plus a break in the clouds equals pure magic. A fairytale gown helps a little too.
Jordan and Ben have three beautiful children who naturally played a big part in their day. That can be a challenge on any wedding day (kids get tired, they get hungry, they want to be HELD RIGHT NOW PLEASE), but their family and friends love their children just as much as they love Jordan and Ben (which is a lot). Together everyone made the day fun and special for all, especially the kids.
Ben’s groomsmen were particularly talented in the “fun” part of the equation. Shout out to my second shooter, Dylan, for capturing their antics so very well!
One of my favorite moments peeps. Look at Ben’s face. There’s nothing else in the world, just Jordan. And of course she’s everything he ever wanted.
For a Della Terra Mountain Chateau wedding couples have the option of performing an aspen tree unity ceremony. Jordan and Ben’s whole family added soil and water to help their aspen grow, in the same way that they will care for their family so that it can grow.
We snuck the littlest groomsman onto his mom’s dress for this one, and I don’t know if you can tell, but that flower girl is 100% passed out. They might add some extra challenges, but we can always count on the kids to make a wedding full of special memories!
You can’t get any closer to Rocky Mountain National Park without being IN the park, which makes a Della Terra wedding perfect for mountain lovers.
Okay, so we’ve been on Jordan and Ben’s wedding adventure so far and we’ve seen a lot of fun and beautiful moments. But we’re getting to one of the best parts of the day. The part of they day where they get to be alone (ish) for the first time since saying “I do.” Often times, this is the quietest, most romantic part of the whole day. I asked Jordan and Ben to just do a lot of snuggling and talk to each other with a few suggestions from me on what to talk about. And that’s where the magic is. Two people in love. It’s really pretty simple.
One of the best features of a Della Terra Mountain Chateau wedding is their incredible reception space. Flooded with natural light in the day but lit like a dream after dark, it’s one of my favorites in the Rockies.
I was totally enamored with the tiny glass globes in Jordan and Ben’s centerpieces. And they looked absolutely magical once the sun went down with all the little tea lights glowing around the room (scroll down to check that out).
Next we absolutely have to pause to appreciate these adorable honey favors! “Meant to BEE!” If you can work a pun in there AND eat it, I’m a big fan.
A rainy afternoon often lends itself to a breathtaking sunset, and Jordan Ben’s wedding day was everything you could want.
After sneaking out for sunset photos it was time to really get the party started.
Now I’m going to do something I would not normally do in a blog post. I’m going to give you a multi image play by play. But this was one of my favorite things at a wedding this year, and I have to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I give you:
THE SNEAKY GARTER SNATCH
1. First, observe the garter in the air. It’s blue and near the top of the image, in front of the rafter. Observe the prepared and eager single dudes, eyes on the sky.
2. See the blue garter near the center of the image, near the sleeve of that killer floral jacket. Notice that it is firmly grasped in a hand.
3. Next we observe the majority of the single fellas checking the ground for the garter. But not that one groomsman in the middle right, behind Mr. Jacket. He’s not looking. He knows where it is.
4. “HEY! Where’s the garter?!” the crowd shouts. “How would I know?” his shrug so eloquently says.
5. But HA! He snatched it right from under their noses and now he stands victorious.
6. And naturally he sports it with pride for the rest of the night.
Jordan and Ben are living life to the fullest in so many beautiful ways. At the end of their Della Terra wedding their hands and arms were full and so were their hearts. They have built a family that’s not just them, not even just the five of them, but one that includes every single person who came to their wedding. That’s a lot of love. And that’s the best thing.
I was also pretty full at the end of their day. Mostly of Mary’s Mountain Cookies. The lemon with white chocolate chips changed me forever.
Congratulations Jordan and Ben! This is just the beginning!
