“Hey! Let’s move to a state we’ve never been to in the middle of our pregnancy with no place to live planned out!” If you’ve ever heard this from your spouse (maybe more than once), you might be part of a military family. The gorgeous people in this post did just that, but they got very lucky. Their crazy journey landed them in this STUNNING Garden of the Gods maternity session. Their new home happened to be in the most beautiful state in the union (*cough*biased*coughcough*). They also happened to rent a home in the same neighborhood as a photographer who is now obsessed with their adorable selves.

Missy and I first met when she posted on the local military wives page looking for suggestions on her situation. The military hotel had no more space in their pet rooms. They couldn’t check into their pet-friendly hotel until later in the day. Where could her fur babies spend this hot summer day?! I, of course, volunteered my house. Then I persuaded her and her kiddo to stay too so that I could talk all about their new home, my favorite place. While we chatted about schools, hiking, and military life she got a call. It turned out this sweet family would be moving into an adorable condo RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD! We were going to be neighbors!

When Missy asked me to capture maternity photos and explained to me what she was looking for, we quickly agreed that a Garden of the Gods maternity session would be just right. Our confidence was rewarded when we walked up to this gorgeous fella before even leaving the parking lot. If you haven’t been to Garden of the Gods yet, you probably need to.

Colorado weather is fickly, but the Morris family’s Garden of the Gods maternity session was blessed with absolute perfect weather. We watched the forecast like hawks, worried about rain, but the evening rolled around with the beautiful golden light I love so much. And there’s no better place to enjoy it than the top of these beautiful red rocks!

My specialty is couples in love, and there’s no couple more in love than one about to welcome a new baby! Austin so loves his beautiful wife and precious family. It was easy to photograph them being happy together! He knew exactly how to make Missy laugh!

Oh Mr. L! This kid has SO MUCH to be excited about this year! A new home in a new state, kindergarten, and a new baby sister! He is a HUGE character and his goofy, happy personality was a joy to document. He reminds me a lot of my oldest kiddo! It’s a good thing that he’s going to have the same awesome Kindergarten teacher that mine did – she knows exactly what happy, silly little boys need to thrive! 

Missy is just absolutely beautiful and her Garden of the Gods maternity session was the perfect setting for her fabulous life-growing self.

Lots of laughter makes for the best kind of session, and Mr. L had a good stock to share. He is so excited to meet his baby sister!
